WARM 1

WARM 1 is a Windows desktop application providing users with a powerful environment for rice simulations.
The application implement the version 1 of WARM (Water Accounting Rice Model) model (Confalonieri et al., 2009a,b), simulating rice growth and development, paddy soil hydrology, blast disease, floodwater effect on vertical thermal profile (Confalonieri et al., 2005), cold-induced spikelet sterility.

When released (2006), WARM 1 was the first cropping system simulation environment making available - via a very friendly graphical user ineterface - advanced tools for sensitivity analysis (7 methods available) and automatic calibration (standard and genetic simplex) in a completely integrated way (Confalonieri et al., 2010a,b). The application also allows the assimilation of exogenous leaf area index data.

WARM 1 (last version 1.9.6; August 9, 2007) is not supported anymore and the component for sensitivity analysis does not work on 64-bit machines. However, it still offers functionalities not available in most of the applications implementing cropping system models, and represents the most friendly tool for someone approaching rice simulation, Monte Carlo based sensitivity analysis and automatic calibration.
